A total of 107 participants gathered in Tacloban City for a 2-day Music Ministry Workshop last July 4 &5, 2017 aimed at recollecting dormant ideas, imparting new techniques in choral singing and accompanying, teaching choirs to become independent in application and execution of knowledge with the objective of making the Eucharistic Mass more meaningful.
WARAYNON INITIATIVE NETWORK (WIN) offered the free workshop to all the church choirs of the different dioceses of Leyte, Samar and Biliran.

The workshop was designed and facilitated by WIN’s VP for Ensemble, Training and Development, Melvin Corpin.
The resource speaker was Nino Banares, a composer and a member of the Board of the Philippine Choir Directors Association (PCDA). Nino is a very good friend of Melvin and volunteered his services for the two-day workshop. He trained the Caibiran Parish choir (St. James Parish) on the eve of the workshop to fine tune the mass songs and anthem ( Melvin composed it) for the centennial celebration of the Caibiran parish on July 25,2017.
Fr. Raymund Mazo, chairperson of the Commission on Liturgical Music of the Palo Archdiocese was also on hand to facilitate the two-day workshop.
WIN would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Mazo Raymund Ciprian Mazo for his support of this project and for presiding over a Eucharistic Mass before the start of each day of the 3-day medical mission held simultaneously during the mission’s last 2 days with the music ministry workshop.
