True to its mission, vision and goals, Waraynon Initiative Network (WIN) has put on summer benefit concerts showcasing the Philippine heritage through song and dance. Each year, WIN comes together to form an original production led by an all-volunteer cast and crew. Our debut concert in 2014, entitled Ha Imo La (For You Alone), was for the benefit of the victims of super typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda, which struck southern Philippines in November 2013. Our 2nd summer concert held in 2015, entitled Lamrag (Ray of Light), was to raise funds to sustain the operations of the organization in spreading the unique cultural identity of the islands of Leyte, Samar, and Biliran, distinct from the national heritage of the Philippines. This year, our concert entitled Halad (Offering), will kick off our fundraising efforts for our planned surgical-medical-dental mission on July, 2017 in Tacloban City, Philippines and our other projects. This year’s concert will have two shows, 3pm and 7pm and will be held at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre, 4800 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027 on July 23, 2016.

Halad will feature performances by the WIN Orchestra, WIN Performing Group, WIN Chorale and the WIN Dancers with the special participation of the US-based alumni of the world-renowned Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company (LKDC), designated as Official Cultural Ambassadors of the Philippines to the US in 1965 and most recently acclaimed as one of the best dance companies in the world; Sole Twisters, a contemporary, ballet and jazz dance group based in San Jose, CA; and the amazing Mark Kervin Singzon, a Taclobanon based in New Zealand.

The concert will center on the heartfelt dedication and commitment of WIN to reach out to the needy and inspire people. It will showcase inspirational, contemporary, pop, jazz and rock songs which will appeal to the broad spectrum of audiences that our concerts have been able to attract. And of course, a WIN production will not be complete without the beautiful WARAY songs and the classic Tagalog songs. This evening of contemporary-ethnic musical fusion will surely be unforgettable!

Halad: featuring the undeniable vocal talent of Rachel Cullari

WARAYNON INITIATIVE NETWORK proudly presents HALAD (Offering) on July 23, 2016 at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre featuring the undeniable vocal talent of RACHEL CULLARI.

“It was no coincidence that 4 years ago when Rachel was looking for a new Parish, she wandered into Cathedral Chapel of St. Vibiana and was immediately struck by the talent of the Friends in Harmony choir, many of whom you’ll see on stage at this concert. Although she is not native to the Philippines, she is passionate about the Waraynon Initiative Network (WIN) and its fundraising efforts for the preservation of the unique Waray culture, as well as the upcoming medical mission in Tacloban City in 2017. Rachel would like to say “salamat” to the members of WIN for accepting her as an honorary Filipina, with special thanks to musical director, Melvin Corpin, for giving her the opportunity to perform such incredible arrangements. Lastly, she would like to thank God for blessing her with the gift of music. Maybe next year she’ll finally attempt to sing some Waray!”
